Packed with flavor and served on a bed of rice, this slow cooker beef and broccoli hits all the right sweet and savory notes

You Will Need

  • Slow cooker (at least 5 qt)
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Mixing spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Ingredients

  • 2 lbs sirloin steak or boneless chuck roast, thinly sliced
  • 1 head of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp cornstarch
  • 4 tbsp water
  • Cooked white rice for serving

  • Instructions

    1. Whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and garlic in the slow cooker insert. Add beef slices and toss to coat.

       

    2. Cover and cook for 4 hours on low heat.

       

    3. After 4 hours, whisk cornstarch and water in a small bowl. Add cornstarch mixture and broccoli florets to the slow cooker and gently stir to combine.

       

    4. Cover and cook 30 minutes on low until broccoli is tender and sauce is thickened. Serve on a bed of warm white rice.
